Hussey commends Rachin Ravindra for his rapid ascent to the IPL.
According to the batting coach of the Chennai Super Kings, Michael Hussey, Rachin Ravindra’s successful start to his Indian Premier League (IPL) career can be attributed to his ability to maintain a level mind and exude an abundance of optimistic determination.
Ravindra, an all-rounder from New Zealand, finished the 50-over World Cup in India last year as the fourth-highest scorer with 578 runs, including three centuries. His performance earned him considerable attention from IPL clubs.
Some Royal Challengers Bengaluru supporters had hoped that Ravindra, who has origins in the city, would join them. However, the 24-year-old joined their fierce southern rivals Chennai in the player auction and has already made an impact in his rookie IPL season.
“Certainly, he has gotten off to an excellent start. It’s been a pleasure to observe. He has just arrived here brimming with enthusiasm, eager to gain as much knowledge as possible and contribute positively to the team atmosphere. Former Australia batter Hussey remarked to reporters, “It’s incredible.”
“While soaking up as much knowledge as possible, he is having a good time.”
Following two impressive catches, one of which was a stunning dismissal of Virat Kohli, and 37 runs off 15 balls in Chennai’s victory over Bengaluru last week, Ravindra set the tone for Tuesday’s 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans with 46 runs off 20 balls.
“He also feeds tremendously off the crowd.” Hussey continued, “Once he launched a few effective shots early on (against Gujarat), his confidence grew and he began to believe he could perform on this stage.”
“I believe he approached the situation with a positive attitude and a clear head.”
